As We Get Older

Feb 5, 2020

J. W. (Terry) Freiberg has a Ph.D. from UCLA and a Harvard law degree. For 30 years he lawyered for many of Boston’s child social welfare and adoption agencies and scores of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. His dual training made him the go-to attorney when legal questions came up in clinical therapy. He worked at the crossroads of law and psychiatry.

Terry is the author of five books, including the one we talk about in this episode - Four Seasons of Loneliness - and argues that loneliness is a sensation, not an emotion. It's like hunger or thirst.

We talk about that idea and a few others.
